The University of Wollongong values the participation of both staff and students in its decision making. Each year, the University hosts elections for a number of staff and student positions on governance bodies to ensure that all perspectives are considered.

Current and Upcoming Elections – Academic Senate
The Academic Senate is the principal academic body of the University, having responsibility for advising the Council and Vice-Chancellor on matters relating to teaching, scholarship, research and related activities. Academic Senate plays an important role in the governance of the University by working in collaboration with the University Council, the University Executive and the academic community.
From April to June elections are being held for several categories of Academic Senate Membership. As these elections commence this page will be updated with relevant information and documents, including Notice of Election and nomination forms.

Please note that the terms of office of these elected positions may be subject to the outcome of the UOW Transformation Program.
Academic non-faculty members of Academic Senate
Three (3) Academic Non-Faculty Representative positions are due to be elected in 2025 for the term 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2027.

Academic Faculty Members of Academic Senate
Five (5) Faculty Academic Members positions per faculty are due to be elected in 2025 for the term 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2027. The positions to be filled are:
- One (1) level E academic or above
- Two (2) level C or D academics
- One (1) level A or B academic
- One (1) Head of School

Student member elections
Elections for student members of Academic Senate are held each year on or after 1 August and before 30 November for the term 1 January to 31 December of the following year. The term of office of student members of Academic Senate is two years, with staggered commencement dates across alternate years.
