Matthew Brown

Matthew Brown is currently in his penultimate year of a Bachelor of International Studies/ Bachelor of Laws at the University of Wollongong. During his time in law school he has served as the Vice President (Student Experiences) on the UOW Law Students Society and as the undergraduate representative on the Faculty of Business and Law Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee. In 2024 he was awarded the Magaret Bond Law School Development Prize for his contributions to improving the law student experience at UOW. He is also a twice elected general representative on the Wollongong Undergraduate Students Association (WUSA) and through this position has contributed his time to advancing the rights and wellbeing of students.

In 2023, Matthew began volunteering as a legal assistant at the Aboriginal Legal Service in Wollongong where he stayed for 12 months before being employed at Legal Aid in Sydney as part of the Indictable Appeals Unit. He also has previous experience in education as a Youth Minister and English Tutor for over five years. These experiences have motivated Matthew to pursue a career in law, advocating for those in vulnerable circumstances.
