BACHELOR OF ARTS
The Bachelor of Arts (BA) offered a range of subjects that were personally interesting, which made studying them easier. We started with a large cohort, around 30-40 from memory. And ages varied from 17 to 80ish. I’ll never forget learning about the world after World War II from a student who was a little girl growing up in that time. Everyone was good friends and shared such valuable insights.
MASTER OF TEACHING (PRIMARY)
Three weeks into studying my Master of Teaching (Primary), COVID was building momentum and shutdowns were initiated. Everyone was to study from home, which was no big deal for the regional campuses because we already did that. But the UOW Eurobodalla staff rallied and offered adjustments and alternatives to assist us. I truly admire them for their efforts during this time. They are more like friends than anything else.
UNDERGRADUATE VS. POSTGRADUATE
I would say that the BA is great if you have no idea what you want to do because there are so many avenues it could take you down. The Master of Teaching on the other hand is like being on a mechanical bull constantly trying to test you and buck you off. Sometimes I felt I was barely hanging on. But you have a trampoline of staff and friends who can help you get back on to the bull and show it who’s boss!
CAMPUS LIFE
On campus, we were all mates. Everyone was always willing to help. I never felt like I was being an inconvenience when asking a question. We had food days and celebrations all the time. It was an environment where everyone was comfortable and supported - a place where you wanted to do your best.
ADVICE FOR REGIONAL STUDENTS
For students looking to study at UOW Eurobodalla, my advice is to just have a go. Talk to the staff, they won’t try to twist your arm at all. The quality of education is high, the tutors are all knowledgeable, and sometimes there are snacks! And I feel that it is a learning environment that has high expectations, but the supports in place to help you reach them.
