PAL (Peer assisted learning)
PAL is offered in Autumn 2022 and PAL subject timetables can be accessed here
PAL Leaders have all been trained as Online Facilitators and PAL Online is available to anyone studying in the subjects where online is offered, regardless of which campus you are studying at. Here are the Instructions of how to access Pal Online sessions.
PAL aims to provide a learning atmosphere which differs from the traditional tutorial environment. PAL sessions are led by 'PASS Leaders', senior students who have excelled at the subject in the past. The focus is on integrating the course content (what to learn) with academic reasoning and study skills (how to learn).
At each session a PAL Leader will be on hand to guide students through the course material. The focus of each session will be determined by the needs of the group, providing a valuable opportunity for students to seek help and advice in a friendly, relaxed environment.
PAL has been supporting student learning at UOW since 2002. Over 30,000 students have participated in the program since it commenced at UOW and we have found that a student that attends attains higher marks and is less likely to fail or withdraw from a subject.
PASS@UOW has was recognised both nationally and internationally for outstanding contribution to teaching and learning.
