Matt Wright

Interim Chief Operating Officer and Vice-President (Operations)

Mr Matt Wright is the Interim Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Vice-President (Operations) for the University of Wollongong.

In this role Mr Wright continues to lead the financial and enterprise strategy, as well as the people and culture strategy of the University. He will also provide direction in areas such as information management and technology, workforce planning and development, capital management, campus master planning, and governance.

In this role he also plays a crucial part is executing UOW’s 2030 strategy and vision, as well as championing UOW’s upcoming 50th anniversary.

Mr Wright joined the University of Wollongong in 2007 as the Associate Director Financial Services and was appointed to the role of Director of Financial Operations in 2013, which is his substantive role. In this role Mr Wright manages the University’s financial operations and systems, and ensures the effective management of governance and planning of the University’s financial operations.

Mr Wright’s expertise extends to a wide range of areas including investments, infrastructure and commercial works projects, government policy, business process improvement, corporate financial modelling, organisational change, and strategic planning.

Mr Wright is a Certified Practising Accountant (Fellow) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Management) and Master of Accounting.
