Interim Chief Operating Officer and Vice-President (Operations)
Peter Janu is UOW's Interim Chief Operating Officer and Vice-President (Operations). Peter will be in this role from Monday 15 May, until Friday 28 July.
Peter is stepping away from his substantive role as UOW Global Enterprise Executive Director of Commercial and Legal to bring his expertise and experience to operational services. In Peter’s substantive role he was responsible for providing advice on legal, regulatory and governance matters to the UOWGE Board, Group CEO and senior management. He was also Company Secretary of UOWGE and had responsibility for strategic and operational planning and projects and for group growth opportunities.
Peter had a critical role in all major growth projects, including the acquisition of the Malaysian KDU and RSD Colleges, the UOW Data Science, Discovery and Innovation Centre and in the development of the soon-to-be-complete UOW College Hong Kong Tai Wai campus. In his role with UOWGE, he also managed legal services and the governance structures of the UOWGE entities.
Peter has broad experience in commercial, legal and leadership roles for large ASX listed companies with international operations. He has worked in a range of sectors including: construction and engineering services, property development, financial services, professional services and retail.
Peter holds degrees in Economics and Law from the University of Sydney. He is a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia, a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
At the end of his time as UOW's Interim Chief Operating Officer and Vice-President (Operations), Peter will resume his substantive role as UOW Global Enterprise Executive Director of Commercial and Legal.
