Woolyungah Indigenous Centre held its first trivia night this 22nd May seeing 46 students and staff dress up as their favourite movie characters and compete for a variety of prizes.
Hosted by our Student Support staff, students were able to test their knowledge of Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples and events over five rounds of general knowledge, music, movie, ‘Black’ geography and pot luck questions.
Amidst the many characters in the room special appearances were made by several ‘Mad Hatters’, The Sapphires, The Mask, Alice in Wonderland, Wednesday Addams (the Addams family), Raven (Teen Titans), pirates, hobbits, Jaws, Juliet (Romeo was not present) and Derek Zoolander. A special mention goes out to Winyinnar Mendez-Williams taking out the best-dressed as The Mask
Dinner was a full feast from Samaras Lebanese, leaving everyone full and the Student Support Staff provided comical compering that kept everyone laughing throughout the night. The Sapphires’ team took out first place and held lead on the scoreboard for most of the night.
With a great initial turnout, WIC’s inaugural Trivia Night was a highly celebrated SAF-funded event that will return in Spring session with an even more impressive array of questions and a whole lot more laughter.
