Respect week at UOW Bega campus was opened by local Djiringanj Elders Aunty Glenda and Aunty Ellen Mundy delivering a Welcome to Country followed by a Yarning Circle.
The Elders shared stories of the local history and cultural knowledge including clan and tribal boundaries, cultural lore, practices and protocols. The students asked great questions during the yarning circle and expressed their gratitude for everything they learnt from the Elders. Students and staff joined in painting with ochre and through personal reflection, shared what respect meant to them.
Everyone appreciated learning together with local cultural knowledge.
