The new year welcomed the completion of the extension of our community courtyard. The renovation has enabled a larger outdoor space for our students, staff, and community members to gather.
Providing undercover and semi enclosed seating, the extension offers our community with more meeting spaces and study options. Neatly and seamlessly bringing together the yarning circle, pre-existing small courtyard and the inside foyer, this new indoor/outdoor space is already a big hit and being readily accessed.
Our courtyard garden has been co-design by local Indigenous landscaper and current student, Matt McKay and Endless Landscape design company using hand selected plants and shrubs to complement the space perfectly. Lilly Pilli, local species of eucalyptus and other regional natives have been introduced to enrich the space. The NIAA funded project is a much-needed inclusion for our ever-growing student numbers, with the highest number of Indigenous Students enrolled in 2023 in UOW’s history.
