This year UOW is hosting the 28th Indigenous Nationals (23 – 27 June). Each year the event brings together more than 500 Indigenous student-athletes from 33 Australian Universities to compete in four sports: touch football, basketball, netball, and volleyball. We’re looking forward to welcoming students from across the country and the home field advantage for the two teams competing on behalf of UOW.
Planning is well underway for a fantastic event. You can help make it the best yet. There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer and your support from the sidelines will give our teams an extra edge.

The artwork for this year’s Indigenous Nationals was created by Wiradjuri & Ngunnawal graphic designer and digital artist, Brittney Angus.
Inspired by the profound symbolism of Woolyungah Indigenous Centre, the artwork encapsulates the essence of the Nationals as a gathering that transcends boarders and embraces the diversity of Indigenous communities from all corners of Australia.
‘Meeting place’ symbols are reflective of the various communities from every corner of Australia, converging at the Nationals as the central meeting place. With ‘journey lines’ to depict the collective travels of Nationals’ teams to UOW.
The canvas is adorned with a myriad of dots, depicting Australia’s vast landscape. Each dot carries the weight of ancestors and spirits, connecting the present to the past. The dots, like the stars in the night sky, shine bright, emphasising the resilience and enduring spirits of Indigenous peoples.
