This prize was established to acknowledge the achievements of the late Honourable Jane Mathews AO, a former Patron of the Women Lawyers Association of New South Wales, who was instrumental in establishing the UOW School of Law and had strong personal connections to the Illawarra Region.
The Honourable Jane Mathews AO was a judge of the Federal Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of New South Wales, along with many other achievements that changed the legal profession for all, but most notably for women.
