Presenter: Associate Professor Rowena Lennox
"In May 2015 I met a dingo on the beach of K'gari/Fraser Island. I nicknamed him Bold because he was so sociable with people. Three months later he was killed by Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services (QPWS) staff because he was deemed to pose a safety risk to people. This talk focuses on my forthcoming book Dingo Bold, which explores the lives and deaths of Bold and his family in the larger context of humans' emotional relationships with dingoes."
Rowena Lennox's writing appears in The Big Issue, Griffith Review, Kill Your Darlings, Meanjin, Seiaurea nd Sutherly. Her second book dingo Bold is forthcoming with Sydney University Press. She continues to research and write about dingoes, and their place in the Australia's settler imaginary.
