Over the past fortnight, a team of 10 students have worked to create a youth climate statement for the University of Wollongong which included a series of commitments and demands. They have received full endorsement from the University Executive for five commitments:
- Working towards carbon neutrality by 2030.
- Improving energy management.
- Supporting sustainable transport strategies.
- Cultivating research excellence in climate change solutions.
- Educating the community about climate change.
The students have also stressed the importance of green energy, net-zero emissions strategies, and global climate financing to developing countries along with a demand or a federal response to climate change, particularly a 2050 net-zero target.
Join the team, alongside some guest speakers in a webinar on Friday 27th at 10:00am or 3:00pm to learn more about the project and the importance of taking progressive steps to ensure a sustainable future.
