MEET THE PANEL
Cherie Bennett
Cherie is the Manager of the Cooper HIV/AIDS Research Training (CHART) Program, a research capacity building initiative targeting health care professionals in the Asia Pacific region. Immediately prior to joining the Kirby Institute (UNSW), Cherie worked at the New South Wales STI Programs Unit with NSW Health as the state-wide HIV Clinical Nurse Consultant. Cherie is a practicing Clinical Nurse Specialist (Sexual Health) and works as a Medical Educator.
Joel Wilkinson
An alumnus of the University, Joel graduated from a Bachelor of Nursing in 2019. He began his nursing career working in primary healthcare as a Medical Assistant and then completed his new graduate position working in Coronary Care and Perioperative units. He is now acting Practice Manager and a Registered Nurse for Grand Pacific Health at the University of Wollongong. Joel is the former President of Student Nurses as Professionals (SNAP) and was the recipient of NSW Health’s chief Nursing & Midwifery Officer Jacqui Cross Scholarship to attend the ACN 2018 National Nursing Forum.
Robbie Bedbrook
Robbie is a Registered Nurse in Primary Health Care from Sydney, Australia and also works as a thought leader in health, technology and content creation. His brand ‘Nurse Robbie’ and his video channel ‘Hot on Health’ aim to increase rates of health literacy and advocate for nurses globally. Robbie is an Honorary Associate Lecturer with the University of Wollongong and the current Curator of the Sydney Global Shapers, an initiative of the World Economic Forum to empower young leaders to improve the state of the world.
Sonia Martin
Sonia is the Cofounder & Director of Molly Lynne Medical and of Sunny Street, a mobile GP and nurse led mobile outreach service providing primary health outreach and care coordination to homeless and vulnerable individuals and families to allow community connectivity and improve their access to health care options. Sonia was a nominee for Australian of the Year in 2020 and the winner of the Health Minister's Award Nursing Trailblazers in 2021.
