This webinar will analyse the motives behind Russia's attack, investigate to what extent NATO expansion is a genuine concern for Russia and discuss the rules of international law that apply to its military operations. The panel will then explore what options the global community has in face of President Putin's apparent willingness to disregard international rules and norms. Finally, panelists will address the geopolitical and economic consequences of this conflict for Ukraine, Russia itself, Europe and the world.

Theo Farrell is Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Wollongong. He was previously the Head of Department of War Studies at King’s College London and is an expert on the conduct of modern warfare.
Associate Professor Emily Crawford, University of Sydney Law School:
Emily Crawford specialises in international law, international humanitarian law, and international criminal law.
Dr Sonia Mycak, Australian National University:
Dr Sonia Mycak is a visiting research fellow in Ukrainian studies based at the ANU’s Centre for European Studies.
