Luminaries: The future of data and AI in Australian healthcare

Data is now at the centre of human lives. Artificial intelligence, built on healthcare data, promises a new and transformative kind of health technology. However, this raises big questions. Will the promised benefits of big data and AI be reached and then delivered? And if they are, what are the ethical and social implications of sharing and using big data, and employing AI-based technologies in health decision-making?

UOW’s goal is to produce new ways of thinking that will reduce harm, increase benefit and promote justice in health data generation, use and health technology.

Join UOW researchers Stacy Cater, Yves Saint James Aquino, Lisa Smithers and Alberto Nettel-Aguirre as they discuss how the datafication of our health, and artificial intelligence systems, could change health services in Australia.
