Luminaries: The state of climate change in school curriculum

A recent review of research undertaken by the Academy of The Social Sciences in Australia reveals a number of challenges to this aspiration including the variability of educators’ knowledge of climate change science, the cross-curricula nature of sustainability and climate change education, and the relative lack of research into children’s experiences and accounts. The review also points to a wide range of demonstrably productive resources and approaches to addressing climate change with children and young people.

Join UOW researchers, Dr Lorna Jarrett, Associate Professor Pauline Jones and Professor Peter Freebody as they discuss their current work to address such issues, and to investigate ways in which educators can be better supported to deliver sustainability and climate education
