GenAI 101 for teaching staff

How do students use Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI)?
How can GenAI-generated references be verified?

These are the two main GenAI-related questions students asked our librarians in Spring 2023. Students want to know the extent to which they are allowed to use GenAI; what’s more, many students still seem to be grappling with the basics (and limitations) of GenAI in the development of written assessment tasks.

What does this mean for teaching staff in T1/Autumn 2024?

Join us for an interactive and practical workshop on current student queries and practices for GenAI in education that covers:

  • How students are currently using GenAI in the development of written assessments.
  • The authorised/unauthorised use of GenAI in the development of written assessments.
  • Resources to support students and teaching staff in the ethical, authorised use of GenAI in the development of written assessments.
  • An opportunity to brainstorm things you can talk to students about in Autumn 2024.

Workshop hosts:

  • Cate Slater - Learning & Engagement Librarian
  • Nick Zografos - Learning & Engagement Librarian
  • Lara Regterschot - Office of Academic Integrity
