Vice-Chancellor recognises staff excellence
Staff across all areas of UOW were recognised for their outstanding achievements at the annual Vice-Chancellor’s awards ceremony, on Friday.
Presented by the Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Wellings CBE, recipients received awards for exceptional achievement, outstanding service, community engagement and completing 25 years’ service.
The evening ceremony, held at the University Hall, was attended by more than 300 guests including award recipients, staff members, family and friends.
Professor Wellings used the opportunity to formally acknowledge the achievements of staff that are helping to shape the university.
“This is a chance to celebrate researchers, teachers and professional services staff who have had an outstanding contribution to the University. The achievements of these colleagues play a big part in the success of our institution,” he said.
Staff were commended for a range of achievements from developing semiconductor radiation detectors to supporting and improving the health of UOW staff through WHS initiatives.
Manager, Professional and Organisational Development Services, Lorraine Denny said: “These awards are a great way to showcase the work of the University community. It’s a chance to formally recognise those, whether academic or professional services staff, who have made an impact in our University.”
