HSC Maths Revision Day attracts hundreds of students
Up to 500 HSC students from 40 schools in the Illawarra and surrounding regions will flock to UOW tomorrow (Friday 19 June) for a HSC Maths Revision Day.
Students will attend workshops where they review the HSC Maths curriculum, receive tips from the experts on how to approach the HSC exams and learn about options for studying Mathematics at UOW.
The students will be officially welcomed at the Hope Theatre before going into their sessions. At the opening of the event, they will receive a guest lecture from UOW graduate, Matthew Mazur, who is now employed with Tibra.
The event is being hosted by the School of Mathematics and Applied Statistics in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences which is also conducting a Maths Teachers Day on Tuesday 23 June in Building 32 G01.
The University is committed to supporting schools in its regions and one of the ways it aims to do this is by providing professional development for teachers.
It is a chance for participants to interact with world class academics, to respond to ideas for mathematics teaching from their peers, to increase awareness of trends of professional interest and to network with colleagues.
