Record number of offers for study in 2015

UOW has made a record number of offers to students wishing to study in 2015, with more than 4,800 offers through the University Admissions Centre (UAC) to date, up from the 4,000 last year.

Prospective students will begin receiving Main Round UAC offers today (1800 AEDT Wednesday 21 January) and further rounds of offers will be made in early February.

The Faculty of Social Sciences new Bachelor of Social Sciences and Bachelor of Social Work have proved popular. The Faculty of Business has also experienced increased demand for its full range of course offerings from the Bachelor of Business, through to the highly sought after Deans’ Scholars degrees, and Financial Services and Banking programs.

Courses that continue to experience strong demand and make up the largest number of UOW’s UAC offers include degrees in Nursing, Primary Education, Commerce, Arts, Business, Engineering Honours, Science and Communication and Media Studies. Of UOW’s specialised degrees, the Bachelor of Exercise Science is making the most offers.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Wellings said the increased demand for UOW courses reflected the University’s strong teaching reputation, five-star ranking for graduate employment and friendly campus.

“The University’s new projects, including the $44 million Early Start initiative, state-of-the art science teaching laboratories and new student accommodation, will cater to current and future growth in student numbers,” he said.

“Despite the high demand, there are still opportunities to study at UOW in 2015, through applications via UAC. Prospective students may also be able to change preferences in late round offers. The University is also accepting direct applications for both undergraduate and postgraduate study.”

Applications for undergraduate study in first semester close on Friday 20 February, however UAC advises applicants not to leave it this late to apply or change preferences, as not all institutions will make offers in later rounds, and not all courses will still have vacancies for semester 1.

Further information is available on the UAC website and in the UAC 2014–15 Guide.
