Campus Master Plan open for community feedback

Campus Master Plan open for community feedback

The University of Wollongong (UOW) is calling on the community to provide feedback for its Wollongong Campus Master Plan, with drop-in sessions for staff, students and the community taking place next week.

The drop-in sessions will take place as part of the second phase of community consultation, with the Draft Master Plan currently available for review online.

Feedback from the first phase of community consultation emphasised the value of the sense of green space on campus, teaching and learning, the relationship between the natural and built environment, world-class facilities and services, the social and community character, infrastructure for a range of weather conditions, public transport and the connection between the campus, community and the CBD.

UOW Chief Administrative Officer Melva Crouch said community feedback is essential and will guide the development of the final Master Plan.

“We’re calling on local organisations, community groups and residents to review what we’ve done so far and get involved in the final consultation sessions,” Ms Crouch said.

“We’ve already received some invaluable suggestions and feedback, which will ultimately help us shape our University.”

Staff and student consultation sessions will be held on Tuesday 21 June from 12pm-2pm outside the UOW Library.

Sessions for the community will be held on Thursday 23 June from 6pm-7.30pm at Keiraville Public School and on Friday 24 June from 12pm-3pm at Wollongong Markets, Crown Street Mall.

Feedback can also be provided online or via post, with entries open until midnight Sunday 3 July 2016.

UOW began preparing its Wollongong Campus Master Plan in December last year with the help of a multi-disciplinary team of consultants led by campus master planners, MGS Architects. The Campus Master Plan will prepare for the University’s future growth over the next 20 years in alignment with its overall vision and goals as well as the needs of the local community.

The Campus Master Plan will support the recently launched University Strategic Plan 2016-2020.
