Thousands of students flock to UOW for Open Day
School leavers given chance to experience university life and study.
More than 9,000 future students, parents and friends are expected to descend on UOW this weekend for Open Day, an annual window to the sights, subjects, and experiences on offer at UOW.
Open Day, held on Saturday 13 August, will welcome future students and provide a fun, informative look at what students can expect if they choose to pursue their studies at UOW.
Uni Hall will be transformed into an academic centre with staff from across UOW’s diverse disciplines on hand to answer questions and provide guidance on specific areas of study.
Students can also attend the Scholarships Hub, where they can talk directly to UOW scholarship officers about opportunities available to help with their studies and life on campus.
Patrick O’Connor, Manager of Domestic Student Recruitment, said Open Day provided an opportunity for future students to discover the amazing experiences on offer at UOW.
“UOW Open Day on Saturday is a great opportunity for students to have all of their questions answered at the one place at the one time. We have a beautiful campus here in Wollongong, and we can't wait to show it off, and help our future students find their 'why',” Mr O’Connor said.
There will be campus tours as well as tours of Wollongong, via a hop-on, hop-off bus, running throughout the day to provide future students, particular those from regional and remote areas, with a snapshot of the city.
Open Day is not just aimed at school leavers, with sessions for those interested in postgraduate or mature age study as well as information for future students looking at pathways to UOW if they are not successful in direct entry.
Entertainment will be provided throughout the day, with DJs, bands, giveaways, and demonstrations from UOW’s clubs and societies.
Free buses will run from Liverpool and Campbelltown to help students in Western Sydney attended Open Day and there will also be a free shuttle bus from North Gong Station.
