Students celebrate academic achievements at Shoalhaven graduations

Future leaders in arts, education and nursing celebrate end of their studies

Students at the University of Wollongong’s Shoalhaven Campus celebrated the end of their studies yesterday (Wednesday 2 May) as part of the annual graduation ceremonies, held at Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre.

The event recognised the next generation of leaders in arts, commerce, nursing, and education, with approximately 45 students donning their blue gowns and caps.

UOW Shoalhaven Campus Manager Teresa Bourke said it was always exciting to see the students mark the culmination of their studies and reflect on their achievements.

“It is a special day for the community at Shoalhaven Campus. We love being able to recognise the tremendous success of our students and help celebrate that success with their family and friends,” Ms Bourke said.

“We are so proud of our students and we love being able to help them on the path to achieving their dreams. It is exciting to know that we are helping creating the future nurses, teachers, artists, and business leaders of our community.”

Glenn Williams, the project manager for Shoalhaven Campus’s new MIND the GaP facilities, delivered the occasional address at the graduation ceremony.

MIND the GaP is a purpose-built, $2.5 million facility, which will be located at Shoalhaven Campus, with the aim of addressing the mental health needs of the community.

Associate Professor Robbie Collins, Head of Shoalhaven Campus, was the MC for the event.

Among the notable graduands at yesterday’s ceremony were Kendell Mount, who has completed her Bachelor of Arts, majoring in English Literature.

Ellie King, Emma Talbert, and Claire Briggs also celebrated their graduation from the Master of Teaching, with the three reflecting on the importance of the community and friendship in helping them completing their studies.
