APARTMENT BUILDING CRISIS

Professor Tim McCarthy can provide expert commentary on Australia’s building crisis, including widespread residential apartment block defects. Prof McCarthy is Head of School of Civil, Mining and Environmental Engineering. He is a specialist in structural steel design and computer-aided design.

 

BRANDS PULL ADVERTISING FROM ALAN JONES’ BREAKFAST SHOW

Professor Charles Areni can provide commentary on several brands committing to pulling advertising from Alan Jones’ 2GB breakfast show, in the wake of last week’s comments about New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. Prof Areni is the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business and a Professor of Marketing.

 

CALLS TO SCRAP STAMP DUTY AND THE HOUSING MARKET

Professor Alex Frino is available for interviews about calls to scrap stamp duty. He can also comment on the strengthening of the housing market. Prof Frino was on the team that developed the Corelogic house price indices used by the Reserve Bank. He is a Professor of Economics and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Strategy).

 

PACIFIC ISLAND FORUM – CRITICISM OF AUSTRALIA’S CLIMATE CHANGE STANCE

Dr Stephanie Perkiss is available for interviews about last week’s Pacific Island Forum after Australia was seen to water down language on cutting carbon emissions and phasing out the use of coal. Dr Perkiss has done extensive research into the social impacts of climate change on the Pacific. Dr Perkiss is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance.

 

FACEBOOK AND TWITTER REMOVE COVERT CHINESE ACCOUNTS

Professor Charles Areni can comment on Facebook and Twitter removing covert Chinese accounts that tried to undermine Hong Kong demonstrators. Prof Areni says these moves reflect an evolution of Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms. Prof Areni is the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business and a Professor of Marketing. He cannot comment on the political or surveillance aspects of this story.
