UOW maintains global leadership in latest rankings
Research citations and employer reputation among highly performing metrics
The University of Wollongong (UOW) has maintained its position among the world’s top 200 universities, rising three places to rank 193rd globally and rank 10th in Australia in the latest 2022 QS World University Rankings announced today, Wednesday 9 June 2021.
In less than a decade, the University has moved up 83 places in its overall rank, and has established itself as a leading research-intensive university.
This year, UOW received a significant boost in its citations per faculty score as one of the leading indicators for the rankings, which rose to 82.3, a 16 per cent increase from last year.
The employer reputation score also rose to 37.5, a 9 per cent increase from last year in the new rankings.
The University’s citation rate is three times the global median citation rate based on a wide variety of research strengths across its faculties.
UOW’s improvement in the Employer Reputation category correlates with its exceptional results in the National Graduate Outcomes Survey released in March this year.
UOW Vice-Chancellor Professor Patricia M. Davidson welcomed the rankings and said the University is focused on attracting the best talent and highly accomplished scholars to achieve its goal of becoming a top study and research destination in the world.
“My sincere thanks to UOW’s dedicated researchers who make our university a world-class research and innovation destination. I am delighted that we are continually improving our global position every year, this is demonstration of consistent and sustained performance” Professor Davidson said.
“Research and innovation are core to what we do at UOW and aligns with our vision of solving complex social, environmental and economic challenges and making a difference for our communities.”
“Our graduates are also highly sought-after among employers due to the knowledge, skills and networks they acquire while studying at UOW.”
The University also ranked 6th worldwide in the latest Impact Rankings for its commitment to providing a sustainable and inclusive learning environment
UOW’s 2020-2025 strategic plan outlines three ambitious Strategic Goals that aim to empower students for their future, create knowledge for a better world and make a difference for our communities. The plan is developed to ensure the University is positioned to rapidly adapt, respond to and lead change globally.
