Big jump in employment and salary for UOW graduates

University outperforms in the latest graduate outcomes survey

The latest Graduate Outcomes Survey shows big increases for recent University of Wollongong (UOW) graduates in employment and salary outcomes.

The 2022 Graduate Outcomes Survey National Report shows a large increase in full-time employment of recent UOW domestic graduates, which jumped 14.7 per cent from 65.5 percent in 2021 to 80.2 per cent in 2022, the fourth largest increase among Australian universities. The rate of full-time employment for recent UOW graduates now sits above the national average (79.0 per cent).

The median full-time salary for recent UOW graduates also rose significantly, from $63,400 in 2021 to $67,800 in 2022, an increase of $4,400; UOW was one of only six universities to see a full-time salary increase of greater than $4,000.

In a recent Employer Satisfaction Survey by the Australian Government, UOW graduates were rated no.1 by their employers, placing the University in the top spot among all universities nationally.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic and Student Life) Professor Theo Farrell said the University is focused on providing its students with a high-quality education and in-demand skills, and works closely with industry partners to ensure its graduates are well-prepared for the workforce.

“We are delighted to be producing outstanding graduates who are contributing to the success of workplaces around the country,” Professor Farrell said.

“Our top goal at UOW is to empower our students for their future. A core focus of the University is to provide an exceptional teaching and learning environment for our students where they can develop critical skills that are matched with the needs of employers.

“We are proud of our graduates who make a difference here in Australia as well as globally through the skills they have acquired here at UOW.”

The University offers tailor-made Work Integrated Learning opportunities for graduates across its portfolio and has formed strategic partnerships that allows students to partake in internships and placements in their field of study. UOW students gain industry experience through these purposefully designed programs while they are studying and develop their skills before they finish their degree.
