UOW shines at Australian Awards for University Teaching
Awards recognise the contributions made by academics to the quality of teaching and student learning
Academics from the University of Wollongong (UOW) have been recognised for their outstanding contributions to teaching and learning at the 2022 Australian Awards for University Teaching, announced on Wednesday, 22 February.
The Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) celebrate and reward programs and practices that enhance students' learning experience, recognising educators' outstanding efforts and their impact on students' learning and teaching outcomes.
The 2022 Australian University Teaching Awards were announced at a conference dinner held by Universities Australia in Sydney.
After a highly competitive round of nominations, Dr Noelene Weatherby-Fell, a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education, and Dr Emma Heffernan, a Senior Lecturer in Architectural Engineering in the School of Civil, Mining, Environmental and Architectural Engineering researchers were recognised in the ‘Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning’ category.
Associate Professor Xiaoping Gao, from the School of Humanities and Social Inquiry, was honoured in the ‘Awards for Teaching Excellence’ category.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic and Student Life) Professor Theo Farrell congratulated the recipients for their outstanding contributions to teaching and learning.
“I am delighted to see the excellent work of our academics being recognised at the prestigious Australian Awards for University Teaching,” Professor Farrell said.
