Music tickets and dynamic pricing

Professor Troy Heffernan can talk about the growing trend of ticketing companies using dynamic pricing, particularly for music concerts. Music industry insiders and consumer groups are concerned live events are being skewed to the rich. Professor Heffernan is an expert in marketing from the School of Business.


Banning debit card fees

Associate Professor Andy Schmulow can provide expert commentary on the Federal Government’s plan to ban debit card surcharges from 2026. Associate Professor Schmulow is from the School of Law and is a prudential regulation expert.


Can you help your child self-regulate?

Dr Natalie Day is an expert in children’s self-regulation and says our ability to self-regulate starts to develop between the ages of three and five. In an article for The Conversation Dr Day writes:

Low levels of self-regulation at preschool age have been associated with a range of problems in adulthood, such as gambling, substance abuse, poor health, poor sleep and weight issues.

Dr Day says it’s important for children’s brain development to experience and cope with challenges and parents can play a role in this process. Dr Day is a Research Fellow in the School of Education.


Present and future legal battles over the 2024 US elections

Professor Markus Wagner can provide expert commentary on present and future legal battles over the current US presidential elections. Professor Wagner says there are allegations over the integrity of the voting process and legal battles are already underway, with more expected. He believes this will spill over into political uncertainty. Professor Wagner is an internationally recognised expert in international economic law and governance, international peace and security, as well as US and Australian constitutional law. He is the Director of the Transnational Law and Policy Centre at the University of Wollongong.


Global Climate Change Week (14 – 18 October)

Professor Karen Charlton can discuss Global Climate Change Week (14 – 18 October). Professor Charlton is behind several events at the University of Wollongong this week, with her focus being on eating a diet that is both healthy for humans and the planet. Professor Charlton is a research dietician in the School of Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences.

Global Climate Change Week encourages Universities and their communities across all disciplines and countries to engage with each other, their communities, and policy makers on climate change action and solutions.
