Aviation white paper
Professor Ann Rogerson can discuss the federal government’s aviation white paper which was released this week. Before entering academia Professor Rogerson worked in operations and human resources management within the travel and airline sector. She was employed by Ansett Australia when the airline was placed into administration in 2001. Professor Rogerson is an Associate Dean in the Faculty of Business and Law.
US presidential election
Dr Daniel Fleming can talk about the latest developments in the US presidential election. Dr Fleming is a historian with expertise in the US civil rights movement, US history and politics, race, gender and class. He is a lecturer in the School of Humanities and Social Inquiry.
ACC draft guide on sustainability collaborations
Associate Professor Stephanie Perkiss is an expert in social and environmental accounting who can discuss the new ACC draft guide on sustainability collaborations. She says it’s a tricky terrain for many businesses to navigate. In an article for The Conversation Associate Professor Perkiss writes:
When businesses work together – for whatever reason – they run the risk of breaching the competition laws enforced by our national watchdog, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). These laws aim to prevent anti-competitive practices that can hurt Australian consumers, like cartel behaviour and misuse of market power.
But businesses can also team up for all the right reasons, such as making their operations and supply chains more sustainable. Done right, this benefits society as a whole and should be encouraged.
Associate Professor Perkiss is a former professional accountant who now researches in areas including corporate social responsibility, social and critical theory, sustainability accounting and reporting. She is an Associate Professor in the School of Business.
Drone deliveries in Australia
Associate Professor Tillmann Boehme can talk about the future of drone deliveries in Australia as operators explore technology to stop connection black spots. Associate Professor Boehme says it’s an interesting interdisciplinary problem ranging from law, consumer behaviour, logistic costs to technology roll out (black spots). Associate Professor Boehme is a supply chain expert in the School of Business.
Infant squeeze pouches used by teens
Dr Katherine Kent is available to talk about new research that reveals foods in infant squeeze pouches were being consumed in high numbers by older children, including teenagers. Dr Kent says infant squeeze pouches are marketed as a healthy product for babies, but the reality is very different. Dr Kent is a public health nutritionist from the School of Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences.
