PhD Student Attends 41st Australian Conference of Economists
PhD candidate, Abbas Mohammadzadeh attended the 41st Australian Conference of Economists, which was held at Victoria University, Melbourne from 8 to 12 July 2012.
The theme of the conference was ‘The Future of Economics: Research, Policy and Relevance’ and over 300 economists from government, industry and academia attended, including keynote speaker Professor Jagdish Bhagwati.
“It was an excellent opportunity for me to participate in Australia’s most important conference in Economics,” said Abbas. “The outstanding keynote speakers were enough to keep me up to date with new research in Economics and motivate me for further studies.”
The conference once again played host to the Young Economists Network, which runs events aimed at a younger audience and focuses on building career-long connections with other economists.
“It was a good opportunity to communicate and link with people in your area especially for PhD students like me,” said Abbas. “Young Economists Network Meet and Greet, PhD Hons Job Fair and the Young Economist Network social activity were remarkable events for the PhD students.”
