Flight of the Birds shortlisted for The Readings Prize for New Australian Fiction
Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing and author Joshua Lobb has been shortlisted for the Readings Prize for New Australian Fiction for his novel, 'The Flight of Birds'.
The Readings Prize for New Australian Fiction recognises exceptional contributions to Australian literature. Dr Lobb’s work The Flight of Birds is a novel in twelve stories, each compelled by an encounter between the human and animal worlds and underpinned by an acute awareness of climate change.
The novel was selected as part of a shortlist of six titles, with the Prize awarded to the work of highest literary merit. The winning book will be revealed in late October. The winning author will receive prize money of $3000.
Previous winners of the Readings Prize for New Australian Fiction include Ceridwen Dovey (2014), Stephanie Bishop (2015), Zoë Morrison (2016), Sam Carmody (2017) and Jennifer Down (2018).
