More support for early learning at home.
UOW Early Start receives donation from Fritz Family Foundation
University of Wollongong Early Start has received a $10,000 donation from newly formed charity Fritz Family Foundation to support our online programs for children and families. The Fritz Family Foundation was founded in January 2020, and aims to support a number of causes, such as, social welfare and children.
The Discovery to You, Discovery at Home and the Professional learning programs, aims to advance the wellbeing of children and their families, especially those living in regional and remote communities or those dealing with disadvantage, by providing the resources and tools to enable them to care for, support and protect children.
Through the creation of a common framework of resources, tools and strategies, Early Start will directly support both families and educators to ensure children’s learning, development and wellbeing is on track, and that children are able to thrive in these difficult times.
“The Fritz Family Foundation is delighted to support children and families, especially during these challenging times, through its donation to Early Start." Said Catherine Fritz-Kalish, Managing Director, Fritz Family Foundation.
“Home is the first and most important environment for a young child’s learning, development and wellbeing, but with the extra pressure families and early childhood education centres are under at the moment, support is needed,” Early Start’s Professor Marc de Rosnay said.
The online platform will support families with their young children’s (birth to five years) learning in the home environment. With a focus on play-based learning and the family’s role in early development. All content will be made freely available for families and those working with young children, including early childhood education and playgroup programs
Anita Kumar, Early Start CEO said “Thank you again to Fritz Family Foundation for sharing our vision and giving so generously. We greatly appreciate your support”.
