Professor Ray Chambers has been announced as the 2023 recipient of the Waksberg Award

Professor Ray Chambers has been announced as the 2023 recipient of the Waksberg Award, which was established by the journal Survey Methodology published by Statistics Canada, and which recognizes Joe Waksberg’s contributions to survey methodology. Each year a prominent survey statistician is chosen to receive the Award and to write a paper that reviews the development and current state of an important topic in the field of survey methodology, and which also reflects the mixture of theory and practice that characterised Joe Wakberg’s work.

The recipient of the Waksberg Award receives an honorarium, and in July 2023 Ray will give the Waksberg Invited Address at the World Statistics Congress in Ottawa. The Waksberg Award paper will be published in the issue of Survey Methodology following the Congress.

Professor Chambers is an Honorary Professorial Fellow with the National Institute for Applied Statistics Research Australia (NIASRA) in the School of Mathematics and Applied Statistics.
