APQRC Joins Illawarra Region's Innovators at Inaugural Energy Expo in Canberra
On Monday, March 20, representatives from the Australian Power Quality Research Centre (APQRC) and Sustainable Buildings Research Centre (SBRC) participated in the inaugural Illawarra Clean Energy Expo in Canberra. The delegation included Ty Christopher, Director of the Energy Futures Network, Sean Elphick, Research Coordinator at the APQRC, Jason David, Research Fellow at the APQRC, Dr Craig McLauchlan, Research Facilities Manager at the SBRC, and Jon Knott, Research Fellow at the School of Mechanical, Materials, Mechatronic and Biomedical Engineering.

The Illawarra Clean Energy Expo showcased the capabilities of companies and organisations in the Illawarra region that are leading the clean energy transformation, providing high-calibre, sustainable employment and training for the clean energy industry. As a leading research and innovation hub in clean energy and renewables, APQRC joined the Illawarra delegation in demonstrating the significant strides made towards sustainable energy solutions.
At the event, our attendees discussed Illawarra-born ingenuity with Parliament and key industry stakeholders, including the Hon. Chris Bowen MP, Federal Minister for Climate Change and Energy (pictured below).

The Expo provided an excellent opportunity for the APQRC to engage with industry, policymakers, and researchers on the latest developments in the field. The event also facilitated conversations on collaborative efforts towards scaling up clean energy technologies, creating sustainable employment and training for the clean energy industry.
The APQRC joined other Illawarra-based companies and organisations such as BlueScope Steel, Hysata, and Gridsight AI in showcasing the region's ingenuity in clean energy and renewables. The Expo was an excellent platform to raise awareness of the wealth of expertise available in the Illawarra, contributing to the region's transformation into an economic powerhouse.
