LIFT Internship scholarship, nominally valued at $20,000*, aims to help women bring their business ideas and community initiatives to life. The unique program is open to all women currently enrolled in Higher Degree Research in STEM fields at UOW. The LIFT Internship program involves a three to six month industry internship, alongside a leadership development course, entrepreneurship program powered by iAccelerate and community engagement.

Scholarship amount

This opportunity comprises of:

  • A $9000 internship stipend for 3 months.
  • An $1000 support grant to the research group and $10,000 in value for the wider program including leadership, entrepreneurship training and networking events.
  • An internship stipend of $18,000 will be paid for those undertaking a 6-month internship. PhD stipends are paused during the internship period.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship the applicant must:

  • Be a female HDR candidate at UOW.
  • Currently enrolled in higher degree research (HDR) at UOW in a STEM field.
  • Willing to engage in entrepreneurial, leadership and community engagement training.
  • Be able to undertake a STEM industry internship of at least twelve weeks (4 days/week) for a full and immersive experience. Timing will be negotiated between the industry partner and successful applicant.
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women are strongly encouraged to apply.
