Leon Kane-Maguire was one of Australia’s leading scientists in nanomaterials, based at the University of Wollongong. The annual Leon Kane-Maguire Address commemorates and celebrates Leon’s contribution to research, his wicked sense of humour, the communication of science, and the mentoring of the next generation of researchers.
This year's event, held earlier this month on Wednesday, May 4, featured a special guest presentation by Prof Robert Forster from Dublin City University.
As part of the evening, the Leon Kane-Maguire student prize (donated by the Kane-Maguire family) will be awarded to the highest achieving UOW School of Chemistry Honours degree student who has achieved the highest-weighted average mark for Chemistry and Nanotechnology subjects over all the years of their degree.
