Environmental Chemistry Laboratory

This laboratory has a range of facilities for wet chemical work on environmental samples (soil, sediment, plants, aquatic organisms, waters). These include 2 fume hoods and hazardous chemical storage facilities. Equipment available includes a Lachat flow injection system nutrient analyser, Shimadzu visible spectrophotometer and an autoclave. Other facilities include 2 large end-over-end shakers, centrifuge, pH and EC meters. Access is also available to a range of field equipment for water quality studies including 2 YEO-KAL mutlti-probe meters.

Soil Laboratory

The soil laboratory provides facilities for the bulk handling of soil, plant and water samples, especially for sample preparation including drying, grinding and sieving of soil and plant samples. Ovens and a furnace are available. An ultrasonic bath and magnetic separator are also included.
