PhD title: Managing Waste in Indigenous Communities Through a 3D Printing Centric Circular Economy
Only 15% of plastics disposed of are recovered in Australia. Less than 8% of these are recycled and the rest were previously exported to China. With the increasing demand of plastic waste and a plethora of non-permanent ways to recover or recycle plastics, this project aims to inspire, recruit and engage with indigenous communities who have started, or want to be a part of new opportunities in, circular economies through disruptive or innovative supply chains. The outcome is to empower waste-makers and create stewardship within these communities to capitalize in market opportunities while facilitating circularity through waste avoidance and reuse.
