School of Social Sciences

We are a dynamic, interdisciplinary collective of scholars with national and international standing, striving to create a positive impact in our communities and the places to which they are connected.

Our School offers a wide range of opportunities for research and study in criminology, environmental management, human geography, occupational health and safety, public health, social policy, social work and sustainability. Through using the Country Centred Curriculum Framework, our staff provide opportunities for students to recognise, relate and engage in the cultural interface where First Nations Peoples and Country is recognised as a knowledge system in partnership with Western knowledge.

Our students learn to think critically, and to analyse and solve real-world social, health, and environmental problems through engaging with leading researchers, communities, and practitioners on campus, online, and in workplaces. Our graduates leave equipped with a portfolio of intellectual and technical abilities, making them highly sought after.

Our staff collaborate with policy-makers, practitioners, key stakeholders, and the public to co-produce and communicate evidence that has a positive and tangible impact on society. We are internationally recognised for our research and our approaches to understanding the complexities of human existence in a diverse and fast-changing world.
