What is a keyboard shortcut?

A keyboard shortcut is a sequence of keystrokes that can be used to perform a command on a computer much quicker than alternative methods.

Ctrl + X = Cut

Command(⌘) + X = Cut

Ctrl + V = Paste

Ctrl + P = Print

Ctrl + N = New document/ New Window in web browser

Ctrl + Z = Undo action

Ctrl + Alt + Delete = Lock this computer, switch user, log off, change a password or start Task Manager

Command(⌘) + Option + Esc = Force quit application that is not responding

Ctrl + B = Make a word Bold

Command(⌘) + B = Make a word Bold

Ctrl + I = Make a word Italics

Command(⌘) + I = Make a word Italics

Ctrl + U = Underline a word

Command(⌘) + U = Underline a word

Ctrl + Alt + ‘arrow keys’ = rotates the whole screen 90o, 180o or 270o

Command(⌘) + Option + Displays (in System Preferences) = Window should appear then select ‘Display’ icon and choose your choice of rotation

Ctrl + Shift + ‘+’ = Superscript

Command(⌘) + Shift + ‘+’ = Superscript

Ctrl + ‘=’ = Subscript

Command(⌘) + ‘=’ = Subscript

Delete = Sends a selected file to the Trash

Command(⌘) + Delete = Sends a selected file to the Trash

Windows button = Opens up the Start menu

fn + delete = delete button just like on Windows keyboard (instead of just pressing ‘delete’ to backspace)
