Illawarra Friends of International Students (IFIS)

Run by volunteers from the local community and current international students, IFIS is funded by UOW and organises a diverse range of programs and events, including English Language Groups and Cultural Cooking Classes.

Events

English Conversation Group (ECG)

Our English Conversation Group sessions are an informal session that run every week. They are a great way to come together and connect with new people while developing your conversational English skills.
Join us for a biscuit and a cup of tea or coffee as we hang out, talk about absolutely everything, and have some fun!

  • Every Tuesday, 4 pm – 6 pm
  • Every Friday*, 10 am – 12 pm

*During Autumn and Spring sessions only

Cooking and Connection Class

Cooking and Connection classes are run by senior students in partnership with IFIS, with students showcasing dishes from their home countries and cultures. These Cooking and Connection classes help you transition to living independently in Australia and are a great way to make friends!
