How is this program run?

This program is running in-person.


What will I do?

You will assist demonstrators in practical classes for MEDI100 or MEDI112, to facilitate active independent learning of students. This role requires you to be a mentor and encourages you to attend the mentor meetings.


How will I benefit?

Development of communication skills with staff and students, observation of teaching methods, time management skills, problem solving skills, consolidation of anatomy and/or physiology knowledge that may assist with current studies.


How do I apply?

Application is by invitation only, based on previous academic performance in 1st year anatomy and physiology subjects.

Second year students who were high achievers in MEDI100 and MEDI112 are invited to participate in the volunteer mentor program to provide mentorship to students in 1st year MEDI100 and MEDI112 practical classes and are invited to attend mentor meetings


Are there any special requirements for this role?

Professionalism and a sincere passion for supporting others in their learning.


Minimum requirements for UOWx recognition

To receive UOWx recognition, you must complete the following:

  • An "engaged" student will attend 5 out of 6 scheduled MEDI100 or MEDI112 practical classes.
  • A "highly engaged" student will attend 5 out of 6 scheduled MEDI100 or MEDI112 practical classes and complete a one-page reflective piece about what they have learned from the program.
