How is this program run?

This program is running both face-to-face and online.


What will I do?

The Chinese Academic Business Learning & Education (CABLE) is a program where a group of academic high achievers in Faculty of Business, University of Wollongong, dedicated to help peer students academically in accounting, economics, finance, management and other relevant majors, with an aim of providing and sharing experiences of studying and living overseas. To fulfil our aims, our group is academically focused, socially innovative, aiming building community engagements. Our group gives high priorities to 1st year international students, to help them overcome early stage university difficulties, to reduce failure rate and increase retention.

CABLE leaders are responsible for the preparation and delivery of Chinese and English peer-led study sessions and participate in a broad range of social and sports activities involving both international and domestic UOW students.


How will I benefit?

CABLE leaders will develop leadership, communication and team working skills by working with a group of high achievers and strive for academic excellence.

All CABLE leaders who contribute to annual study, sports and social events will receive a uniform and will be invited to an end of year gala dinner to be presented with a certificate of appreciation signed by the Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law.

Are there any special requirements for this role?

The leader must be an academic high achiever and must not conduct any misconduct as per university procedure.


Minimum requirements for UOWx recognition

To receive UOWx recognition, you must complete the following:

  • An "engaged" student will need to complete 20 hours over a calendar year
  • A "highly engaged" student will need to complete 40 hours over a calendar year
