How is this program run?

This program is running online and in-person options.


What will I do?

Share your experiences, hints and tips to a first year Indigenous student who is enrolled in your degree. The program runs over two weeks and covers topics such as:

  • Accessing and navigating SOLS
  • Exploring the university campus
  • Giving insight into different spaces
  • Giving insight into online study
  • Engaging in discussions about the different services available through WIC and mainstream UOW service
  • Giving new students a place to ask questions in a culturally safe space with an established Indigenous student guide

How will I benefit?

You will support a new student to develop a sense of belonging and connection, while developing your:

  • Communication and collaboration skills
  • Mentoring skills
  • Self-confidence

Are there any special requirements for this role?

This program is specific to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.


Minimum requirements for UOWx recognition

To receive UOWx Recognition, you must complete the following:

  • An "engaged" student will need to complete a minimum 2 hours in a calendar year
  • A "highly engaged" student will need to complete 3 hours in a calendar year
