How is this program run?

What will I do?

As a Language Ambassador you will be spending half a day, on a weekly basis during session, in a local school teaching your specialist language subject alongside a school teacher.


How will I benefit?

Language ambassadors is a community engagement project which provides you with the opportunity to promote your specialist language and gain first-hand experience of working in a school environment alongside a language teacher.


How do I apply?

Send your expression of interest to Dr Anu Bissoonauth-Bedford with your name, language level and mobile number. 


Are there any special requirements for this role?

Yes, you will need to be enrolled in language studies as part of your degree and have an intermediate level proficiency in your specialist language.


Minimum requirements for UOWx recognition

To receive UOWx Recognition, you must complete the following:

  • An "engaged" student will need to complete a minimum 20 hours in a calendar year
  • A "highly engaged" student will need to complete 35 hours in a calendar year
