What will I do?

The Outreach and Future Student Ambassadors are casual employees who are paid staff of the University of Wollongong, who support activities delivered by the Outreach & Future Students Division. This position seeks to provide the highest customer service standards to prospective students at events and programs including but not limited to:

  • Discovery Days
  • Early Admission conversion events and activities
  • Expos
  • Information evenings
  • Online Webinars
  • Open Day
  • School Visits
  • Summer Masterclass
  • Future Me Program

In addition to events and programs Student Ambassadors will engage with prospective students utilising communication channels such as telephone, email, direct social media, third party chat, and systems that UOW utilises. With training Student Ambassadors will be expected to accurately recall detailed knowledge of admissions processes, courses, scholarships and other information pertaining to future students to assist them in their decision-making journey. 

Student Ambassadors will be empowered in planning and facilitating mentoring and engagement sessions in schools and supporting school students through learning activities when on campus.

As a Student Ambassador you will:

  • Develop exemplary interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills through presentations, campus tours & school engagement activities.
  • Work with a dynamic and passionate team.
  • Foster problem-solving skills which can be applied when mentoring students in a cross-cultural setting, and who vary in their academic learning and personal needs.
  • Enhance your leadership skills through being a role model to future students.

This role will provide those students who are interested in education the opportunity for relevant, paid work experience.


How do I apply?

There are typically two intakes each year for UOW Outreach and Future Student Ambassadors aligned to the beginning of semesters. To express interest email ofsd-events@uow.edu.au outside of application periods and we will contact you when applications open.


Are there any special requirements for this role?

Yes, if your application is successful, you must be willing to undertake a 'Working with Children Check'.


Minimum requirements for UOWx recognition

To receive UOWx Recognition, you must complete the following:

  • An ‘engaged’ student will need to complete a minimum 20 hours in a calendar year
  • A ‘highly engaged’ student will need to complete 30 hours in a calendar year
