What will I do?

The primary role of the Student Success Mentor is to support first session students to transition into and through their first session of study at UOW. As a Student Success Mentor, you will provide peer support through regular communication (online and face-to-face) and by facilitating various activities to encourage first session students to feel confident, connected and successful. In addition, you will provide immediate support at the Student Success Hub by assisting students to connect with other UOW services and programs. Student Success Mentors also provide event support such as Orientation, Graduation and Faculty Awards and Prize Nights.

  • Deepen your understanding of UOW’s services and programs and apply this knowledge to support other students’ success at UOW.

How do I apply?

If you are interested in applying, the application information will be posted on the UOW Jobs Board during recruitment time. Recruitment will be around August-October.


Are there any special requirements for this role?

To apply for this role, you must be enrolled as a student in an Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree at the University of Wollongong and will still be studying while working in this role. You must have completed at least 2 semesters of study at UOW. Students from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures are encouraged to apply.


Minimum requirements for UOWx recognition

To receive UOWx Recognition, you must complete the following:

  • An "engaged" student will need to complete a minimum 12 hours in a calendar year
  • A "highly engaged" student will need to complete 24 hours in a calendar year
