What will I do?

Surf Lifesaving has 2 roles recognised by UOWx

  • Patrol Volunteer
  • Nippers Age Manager

Surf Lifesaving NSW Patrol Volunteers are trained volunteers who patrol our beaches on weekends and public holidays. Surf Lifesavers take on a variety of roles, including aquatic rescues, providing first aid and emergency care and educating the public about the dangers of the surf.

The Nippers Age Manager plays an important role in the development of junior members within Surf Lifesaving Australia (SLSA). Junior members comprise of approximately 40% of the total members of SLSA. An age manager plays a critical role in introducing junior members to surf lifesaving experiences, and includes coordinating and running the nippers program, and being responsible for the development of surf lifesaving skills, movement skills and surf awareness.


How will I benefit?

You will be involved with an iconic Australian organisation and will be utilising skills including customer service, first aid and team work.

Are there any special requirements for this role?

You will require training and a fitness test to join, as well as acquiring a Working with Children Check.


Minimum requirements for UOWx recognition

To receive UOWx Recognition, you must complete the following:

 

 

  • A "highly engaged" student will need to complete 40 hours over a calendar year
  • An "engaged" student will need to be complete 20 hours over a calendar year
