What will I do?

The UOW College Student Relations Coordinator aims to help students settle into study and life in Australia and ensure they can get involved with various extracurricular and social activities throughout the year. The Coordinator will organise and run social, cultural and wellbeing activities for students. These activities include Cultural Day celebrations such as Chinese New Year, Eid, Diwali, RU OK Day, World Day of Cultural Diversity, outdoor sports, and Headstart Breakfast, and will assist in running College Graduation and Orientation events. The Coordinator will also support students' Academic Peer Coaches.


How will I benefit?

As a Student Relations Coordinator you will:

  • Develop the ability to effectively communicate and engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds through meeting, greeting, and orientating new students. This includes addressing groups during orientation sessions and conducting one-on-one sessions to assist new students in adapting to College life.
  • Develop essential life skills such as teamwork, time management, problem-solving, and adaptability, in addition to acquiring academic knowledge.
  • Foster a supportive learning environment where students feel valued and motivated to actively engage in their academic and extracurricular endeavours.

Student Relations Coordinator roles are advertised at various points throughout the year. Student can register their expression of interest by emailing uowcollege-studentsupport@uow.edu.au


Are there any special requirements for this role?

To be eligible to become a Student Relations Coordinator the applicant must:

  • Be a former student at the College
  • Be enrolled in a UOW course
  • Have volunteered as a College Student Mentor, and;
  • Must attend Orientation and training session.

Minimum requirements for UOWx recognition

To receive UOWx Recognition, you must complete the following:

  • An ‘engaged’ student will need to complete a minimum 50 hours in a calendar year
  • A ‘highly engaged’ student will need to complete 80 hours in a calendar year
